A 1 day course, designed for people who have already attended our First Steps To Map Reading course, or who are confident using a map and compass. Are you a regular hill walker, and want to build on your navigation skills to? If so, this is the course for you!
The Moving on to Moorland Navigation course will give you confidence to use a map and compass to navigate over open moorland, with particular reference to contour lines and re-location.
Learn navigation skills whilst enjoying a day long walk in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District. Starts with some revision of route planning and using the compass, followed by a walk through fields and some more challenging moorland, looking at navigation techniques including pacing, timing, micro-navigation and re-location. This course forms the second day of our National Navigation Silver Award, and can be combined with the First Steps to Navigation (plus a £5 charge) to achieve the award.

The course is based in Foolow, starting at 10:00 am and finishing at 4:30 pm.
